In the Department of Human and Community Development, you'll find undergraduate programs geared toward these interests and more, whether it's helping strengthen families' ability to manage change and conflict, equipping effective preschool and classroom teachers, or improving communication about issues in agriculture and the food system. As an HCD student you'll find a host of clubs and other opportunities to nourish your professional, social, political and recreational interests. HCD students, along with many students from other majors in the College of ACES and across campus, support three clubs that offer professional development opportunities, community and college service activities, and plenty of fun. Illini ACT (Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow) Agricultural Education Club (Alpha Tau Alpha) Human Interest Professions (HIP) Club Faculty Understanding and working with children, families, schools and communities truly demands expertise in a wide range of disciplines and specialties. Our HCD faculty includes teachers, researchers and practitioners in psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, education, social work, communications and more. All share HCD's commitment to helping people find solutions to emerging issues and problems, and to bringing the latest research findings and other knowledge to the classroom.
