The Laboratory for Online Prevention Programs for Families is based on work that I have been doing since 1995. I am interested in creating web-based tools and strategies in order to address concerns of families. This work grows out of my professional interests in family life education, program development, prevention and evaluation. This online laboratory space includes both past and present activities as I continue to develop new ideas about this work. I taught my first online course on “children and divorce” for professionals using email and a listserv in 1996. You can still find an archival copy of this work.
Between 2001-2003 I was the principal educational architect for MissouriFamilies.org at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
I continue to develop new ideas about the use of web-based tools in research, education and outreach and have proposed ideas for “Higher Education 2.0.” I am involved in teaching program development and studying social networking approaches to working with parents.
Many students and colleagues have made important contributions to this work. I am grateful to many people who have enriched my thinking and contributed to the development of these various Internet projects.
