AGED 250 Observation and Program Analys

Course Objectives
Agricultural Education 250 is designed to provide agricultural education students with field experience and instruction in an educational setting prior to enrollment in student teaching. Forty hours of observation and participatory experiences will be scheduled for each student in a cooperating school between the fall and spring semesters (December-January), followed by an on-campus instruction during the spring semester. Ag Ed 250 will be taken for two credit hours. The program is especially recommended for junior year students and is a required course in the AECE Agricultural Education curriculum.
The primary objectives of this course are to provide students with:
- An overview of how agricultural education programs are organized and conducted.
- The opportunity to study and analyze a school and its community as it relates to an agricultural education program.
- The opportunity to work with agricultural educators and learners in various classroom, laboratory, office, and business settings.
- The opportunity to collect information and data, which can be, utilized in Ag Ed 350 and other Agricultural Education courses.
- An introduction to educator professionalism and the encouragement to attend professional meetings.
- The opportunity to develop instructional materials.
- The encouragement to participate in youth organization activities in agricultural education programs.
